Lift Chairs: Versatile, Attractive, And Life Changing

Lift Chairs

For people facing the adverse effects of physical disability, either from accident or disease, having the right type of lift chair to ease their activities of daily living is more than a luxury; rather it is a necessity. All you have to do is spend a small amount of time limiting yourself to a few types of mobility and you, too, will understand: lift chairs are an excellent way of improving the quality of life for many disabled or mobility-challenged individuals. The decision, however, of choosing the right type of lift chair for your needs demands attention as there are many types of chairs available with a variety of features; color and coverings for starters.

Even though not specifically related to the function of a lift chair, many people enjoy the fact that they can choose from a variety of colors and fabrics for their particular chair riser. It may be a small detail, but appearance means a lot; attractive chairs are quality chairs in many people's minds. Aside from having a choice in how their lift chair looks, probably the single most important feature for any lift-assisting chair is the weight capacity. Typically, lift chairs are designed with specific weight ranges in mind; which are: individuals weighing up to 375 lbs. who stand up to 6 feet in height, and the higher rated chair lifts capable of accommodating individuals taller than 6 feet in height and up to 700 pounds. So, as you can see, there is practically a lift chair for everyone.

Second on the list of features to look for in a lift or recliner chair, is the range of motion offered from various models. Most power chair lifts offer a minimum of two positions while others offer three or more. Chairs with the capability of providing more than three positions are often referred to as infinite position lift chairs. In two position chair lift recliners, the electric chair has a sitting position, a reclining/reading position, and a standing position. The chairs offering three positions add a secondary reclining position which is not a full recline. The third category of lift recliner chairs is the infinite position chair. When individuals purchase this style of lift chair not only do they receive all the above-mentioned positions but also obtain what is often called the trandelenburg position; which in essence is a fully extended position that can be used for sleeping. With infinite chairs, people have the most versatile of all the chairs that can double as bed. You can even furnish such a chair with a mattress and bedding.

Lift Chairs
As you can see, medical lifting chairs, although a necessity for many people, can be attractive as well as beneficial. The choices are many as are the benefits, many of which are life-changing.
