Choices In Electric Lift Chairs

Most people may assume that shopping for a lift chair is a fairly simple proposition and they may think that there are few options available, and are simply content to purchase the first chair that they find in the drug store or wherever they purchase their medical devices.  This is an incorrect notion, however.  Electric Lift Chairs come in many different styles and sizes, with different options and different ranges of motion and there a many different choices in what to purchase, and where to purchase.
The most obvious difference in lift chairs is the number of positions they are able to lift to.  There is the least expensive version, the two position lift followed by a three position lift, a four position lift, and an unlimited lift.  With the unlimited lift, the chair is also able to recline, making it possible for a person to take a nap or even sleep in the chair.  There are also many color options in lift chairs: green, taupe, black the most popular, and many styles of patterned fabric, as well as leather and simulated leather styles.

There also are many different styles of the chair itself. It is possible to find a chair that fits perfectly in terms of the color and style to the owner's existing furniture. There are also differences in the weight that a lift chair will support. The standard lift chair can operate with people up to 300 to 375 pounds, then for heavier folk, there is a lift chair with a dual motor that can actually support up to 500 pounds, safely & comfortably.  For people between 500 and 700 pounds, it is necessary to purchase an electric lift chair with a triple motor.

Possibly as important as the chair itself is what the insurance company will cover.  Many insurance companies will pay for at least a portion of the chair, however Medicare many times will only pay for the lift portion of the chair.  Some insurance companies will not pay for a chair if they have already purchased a wheelchair for the person.  Insurance differs from policy to policy, and changes may be made over time, so it is best to check with the company before investing in a chair.  This can insure that the purchaser knows exactly what is covered, before emabarking an their electric lift chair purchase.
